This is our improved version of the old Mallorcan work shoe, known locally as Porqueras, and made using the soles of recycled tyres, 100% ecological linen and cotton canvas, high quality cowhide and of course a 3mm insole for greater comfort.

The Porquera for men has been used by livestock farmers on the island since antiquity. The peasant farmers actually used two types of Porqueras; the "llengo" that were made predominantly in suede, with only the sides made from canvas. And this version, which are known as the Porqueras "punters".

Alongside our very personal interpretation of the Pitiusa Island espadrilles and the Menorcan leather sandals known as Aubarcas, all of which have carved their own place in the footwear market, other shoe designs have come out of these islands, each with their own curious history. Legend has it that an Ibicenco arrived in Mallorca and his espadrilles broke, because he was poor and didn't have the means to buy a new pair, he fashioned himself a pair of shoes from an old tyre and a piece of canvas, making the very first porquera. And the thing is, this island has the manufacture of footwear in its genes, almost equally important as...  the telling of legends.
