      - Natural jute thread.

In Destiu we love the summer and we love to fill it with fresh colours like the fuchsia and yellow of this espadrille with tassels. This sandal is our summer footwear par excellence in the Balearic Islands and we wear it as much in our day to day, to look smart at work as to social events such as weddings, cocktail parties, christenings and communions... These ones look particularly good with a pair of shorts, jeans or a skirt!

The freshness of the suede leather combined with the natural jute fibers, make this espardenya sandal the perfect footwear for the hottest of summer days.

Espadrilles were practically the only existing footwear available in the Pitiusas (Ibiza and Formentera Islands) well into the Twentieth Century, and the few leather shoes that were seen, were "wedding" shoes, reserved for important occasions. In the day to day life on the island, the trusted espadrille was the untiring companion of field and beach, as opposed to pita shoes, much more popular in the neighboring island of Ibiza. Here they were made entirely by hand. in straw and canvas, also called "sabatilles". Even today, there is no more suitable footwear for walking or cycling in Formentera.
